SC asks Centre for 'Extra Attempt' in UPSC Prelims 2021!!

The Supreme Court has sought clarification from the Central Government as to why it refused to give extra chances to those who missed out on the final opportunity in the UPSC exam 2020.

The Supreme Court is hearing a case regarding those who had their last chance at the UPSC first examination in October last year and were given a second chance at those who missed the exam due to corona impact. Because of this case, the Supreme Court first ordered the Central Government and the Central Public Service Commission to reconsider.

In this context, the Central Government said that the Central Personnel and Training Department on January 22 had filed a statement in the Supreme Court not to grant re-employment on behalf of the Central Government and that those who had failed the examination during the hearing of the case on January 25 could not be re-employed.

In this context, the Supreme Court has questioned why UPSC exam writers should not be given extra opportunities. The judges commented on why the concessions should not be made now only when they were offered in the past. The apex court has directed the Central Government and the UPSC administration to respond for not providing additional opportunities.
