NIOS Cancelled Class 10th Board Exam and Postponed Class 12 exams due to rising COVID-19 cases. The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) on Wednesday cancelled the NIOS class 10 board examination and postponed the class 12 exam. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the covid-19 pandemic and a notice regarding this has been shared on the official Twitter handle of NIOS.
The official NIOS tweets says, “Dear Learners, The Public Exam in Theory & Practical of Secondary courses scheduled in June 2021 are hereby cancelled and the Public Exam in Theory & Practical of Senior Secondary & Vocational courses scheduled in June 2021 are hereby postponed till further order.”
As per the NIOS notification, “The NIOS will devise suitable criteria for assessment and the result will be prepared in the best interest of the learner. Any learner who is not satisfied with the result will be allowed to appear in public examination or through On-demand examination as and when the situation becomes conducive to hold the examination.”
Meanwhile, parents of disabled students enrolled with NIOS have been requesting the board to cancel the upcoming examinations and promote the students on the basis of internal assessment. Parents have also started an online petition regarding the same. As many as 6,000 parents have already signed the online petition.
Parents have mentioned that it will be difficult for children who suffer from a wide range of learning and intellectual disabilities to enter into the examination hall where COVID-19 protocols have been put in place. The parents have also sought a generous and rational distribution of marks on the lines of CBSE.
