PM Modi opens ‘Maitri Setu’ between India and Bangladesh: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open ‘Maitri Setu’ between India and Bangladesh by video conferencing on Tuesday. During the case, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure projects in Tripura, a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The bridge was constructed over the Feni River, which flows between the Indian border in Tripura and Bangladesh, and was named ‘Maitri Setu’ to symbolise the growing bilateral relations and friendly links between India and Bangladesh, according to the PMO.
The 1.9-kilometer bridge connects Sabroom in India with Ramgarh in Bangladesh. In a subsequent case, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the establishment of the Sabroom Integrated Check Post. The project aims to ease the flow of goods and passengers between the two nations, to provide new market opportunities for products from the North-East and to assist the smooth movement of passengers from and to India and Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister would also lay the foundation stone for the construction of the multi-level car park and commercial complex at the Old Motor Stand. It will be built for an investment of approximately 200 crore.’ It will also lay the foundation stone for widening the current road from Lichubagan to the airport from two lanes to four lanes.
