It has been reported that the Kerala Education Department is planning to cancel the final examination for all classes from 1st to 9th class.
Annually all students from 1st to 8th class in Kerala will be declared as graduates on the basis of the pass scheme. The Kerala Education Department has announced that this program is currently being implemented for 9th-grade students as well. Kerala Education Department is to cancel the final exams for class 1-9 due to increasing corona vulnerabilities.
Students’ proficiency can be calculated in two ways without conducting final exams in that category. One is the series assessment and the other is a seasonal assessment. Seasonal exams cannot be done in assessment mode as schools are not held regularly due to corona. The Kerala Department of Education has said that teachers will give marks to students by examining how students have consistently contributed. The Department of Education is also exploring the practical issues involved in conducting exams online.
Board examinations for Class XI are regularly held in the State of Kerala. But this year the Kerala Government is consulting to declare all the 11th class students as having passed the pass program. Kerala State Higher Secondary Class 11 and Class 12 will be declared on the basis of the marks of the two final examinations. It is also likely to hold exams if the schools reopen in June. The State Education Research and Training Committee has instructed education officials to make decisions in the best interests of the students to pass.
