International Women’s Day 2021: $25 Million Global Google Announces Google ORG Impact Challenge of Women and Girls: Monday announced a new Women Will web platform to help 1 million rural women in India to become entrepreneurs through accelerator programmes, mentoring, business tutorials, etc. The announcement was made at the Google for India virtual event on the occasion of the International Women’s Day. Accessible in English and Hindi, the web portal will provide guidance to prospective women in villages on how to transform interest or hobby, such as tailoring, beauty services, home schooling, food processing, etc., into, manage and promote businesses. Google will initially operate with 2,000′ Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai initiated the Saathi Internet Program in 2015 to provide women in villages with digital literacy training.

Building on the success of the Saathi Internet programme, we are making a new commitment to help 1 million women in rural villages in India become entrepreneurs through business tutorials, resources and mentoring,” said Pichai. Among the other initiatives announced by Google on Monday included the commitment of a $500,000 grant to the Nasscom Foundation to provide digital and financial literacy training to 1 Lakh women agri-workers based in Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Companies in India and other countries that help women and girls achieve their full potential. Women are almost twice as likely to lose their jobs during the pandemic, and an estimated 20 million girls are at risk of not returning to school. We have the chance to create a world that is more equal and inclusive and we have to take it,” Pichai said.
