Indian Cabinet Approves MoU With Fiji – For Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture And Allied Sectors: On 02 March 2021, The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for agricultural and allied sector cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Fiji.
The objective of the MoU : The aim of the Memorandum of Understanding is to lay the foundations for bilateral cooperation in the field of new and renewable energy based on mutual benefit, equality, and reciprocity. It includes solar, wind, hydrogen, and biomass energy technologies. Study staff, science experts, specialists, and technical trainees are all shared. Technology enhancement and transfer; infrastructure development for agriculture development. Human resource creation by holding seminars and workshops to train officers and farmers.
A Joint Working Group (JWG) will be formed under the MoU to develop protocols, prepare, and propose programes of cooperation to achieve the MoU’s goals through the two countries’ Executing Agencies. Once every two years, the JWG will meet in India and Fiji on alternating years.
This Memorandum of Understanding will take effect on the date of its signing and will last for 5(five) years.
