The Government Is A 259-Member Panel Led By PM Modi To Commemorate The 75th Anniversary Of India’s Independence: The National Committee set up to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence will hold its first meeting today to address the modalities of the preparatory activities. The 259-member committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would meet virtually. The Committee comprises Union Ministers, Chief Ministers, Governors and representatives of various political parties, including BJP President JP Nadda and Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi.

Former President Pratibha Patil, Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, former Prime Ministers HD Deve Gowda and Dr Manmohan Singh, and Nobel laureates Amartya Sen and Kailash Satyarthi are also members of the Committee. AIR correspondent reports that the Government has agreed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence in an appropriate manner at national and international level in the form of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The 75th anniversary of India’s independence will fall on 15 August next year. The celebrations are proposed to begin 75 weeks before this date on the 12th of this month. March 12 is the 91st anniversary of the historic Salt Satyagraha led by Mahatma Gandhi.
